Sarah Palin made her big resignation speech on the 27th – saying that she loved Alaska and America too much to put it through “politics as usual” by finishing up that “lame duck” last secession of her term as Governor of Alaska.
As Jon Stewart pointed out, 15 months to go isn’t exactly a “lame-duck” final session, but, thank you Sarah, for loving us all that much.
Palin’s speech was rather, um, abstract. There was talk of sourdough, grizzly bears, carving rivers and the media “making stuff up” (unheard of!), and Conan O’Brien realized this.
He knew that the average, every day American was going to have a hard time understanding her speech.
Because, naturally, her speech was pure poetry.
And who better to interpret poetry and help us understand the true meanings of Palin’s words better than William Shatner?
Beautiful stuff.
