Until now, if I had heard there was a Twitter feed and video series all about "shit girls say", I would have expected it to be, oh I don't know, misogynistic. (Yes, I'm using the M-Word before 10am.) However, Shit Girls Say is probably one of the most entertaining videos about women I've seen in a while. Why? Because it's hilariously (if not embarrassingly) true.
Reminiscent of John Roberts' "The Christmas Tree" and "The Phone Call" videos, the Shit Girls Say episodes are simply made up the things girls/women say on the phone to their friends, to their boyfriends, and even to their best gal pal Juliette Lewis. Even better, it's all delivered by Graydon Sheppard in a wig. (As I said, it's all very John Roberts.)

"Shit Girls Say" Episode 2
Created and written by Kyle Humphrey and the star of the videos Graydon Sheppard, Shit Girls Say has gone viral (oh yes, now I'm using the V-Word, too!) in the last few days, with even Katy Perry tweeting a link to their YouTube channel. (Well, she quoted a line from it and then sent the wrong link, but we all knew what she meant...)
What I love about Shit Girls Say, is that they're not hateful or bitchy, and are celebrating the ridiculous things girls can say. It feels like we're in on the joke as there is no getting around that we do, in fact, say a lot of this stuff. ("True story!") Just the fact that their bio on Twitter simply says, "Can you pass me that blanket?" makes me laugh. (If my partner had a pound for every time I said that he'd be a millionaire by the end of winter.)
In the same way we lovingly joke about the things our mothers say or, obviously, shit our dads say, Shit Girls Say hits the right tone, and no doubt will remind us of things our friends, mothers, sisters or even ourselves have said. ("Listen! Listen! Listen" Listen! SHUT UP!")
