Trinny & Susannah and The (Starbucks) RED Partnership

By Cate Sevilla

If you’ve been by Starbucks this morning, you’ll have noticed that the red cups are back!

Christmas blend is in, the holiday pastries and cakes are in, and everything has turned all wintery and Christmasy overnight.

But even more exciting than the red cups, is Starbucks’s partnership with (RED). Aptly named the (Starbucks) RED partnership, customers now have the opportunity to make a difference and “do something good everyday” by simply visiting their local Starbucks.

So how do you, a simple latte-buying mortal, make a difference?

By simply loading and registering the new (Starbucks) RED Card, each time you make a purchase with your card, 5 pence will go straight to the Global Fund. Plus, with every (Starbucks) RED Tumbler sold in the UK will generate a contribution from Starbucks of £3 to the Global Fund.

The Global Fund and (Starbucks) RED will be helping to improve the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS in Africa through their donations. For example,  by the end of July 2009 programs supported by the Global Fund have averted more than 4 million deaths by providing AIDS treatment for 2.3million people, TB treatment for 5.4million people, and by the distribution of 88million insecticide-treated bed nets for the prevent of malaria worldwide.  Just think of all the good we can do by simply buying our morning latte with the (Starbucks) RED Tumbler!

Despite usually faffing about with control top panties and poorly dress and/or naked women, Trinny and Susannah have “gone (RED)” and are the shiny, happy celebrity faces of (Starbucks) RED.

The fashionable pair graced the Starbucks on St Martin’s Lane this morning, graciously posing for photos with tumblers, red aprons, lattes, easily excitable baristas, and the all important Seb Bishop – the International CEO of (RED) -  and Brian Waring, the Marketing Director of Starbucks UK and Ireland.

Trinny and Susannah - Starbucks RED

Trinny wore a bright pink coat, reminiscent of the neon pink trench coat from Versace and moccasin-style wedges, while Susannah opted for a trendy sequinned shrug, a long black and white striped top and black high heeled booties.

Despite wearing bright pink and stripes, T&S say that you should “make red this year’s colour” and that it’s “great” that they can “make each latte count and all do a little something every day to help those affected with HIV/AIDS in Africa.”

While Trinny probably hasn’t seen whipped cream or a full-fat latte since early 2001, I’m sure these ladies are very proud to be the faces of such a fabulous campaign, with such an important cause.

If you’re interested in helping out those affected by AIDS/HIV in Africa, make your way down to your local Starbucks to pick up a (Starbucks) Red Tumbler or (Starbucks) Red Card. It’s simple, and it’s easy.

In my opinion, we’re all buying coffee tumblers and lattes on a regular basis anyway, so why not take the time to register a (Starbucks) RED Card online and donate 5p every time you buy a drink or cupcake at Starbucks?

Tis the season and all that jazz. Plus, it’s just the humane thing to do, isn’t it?

Without being totally tasteless, but these two can definitely scare AIDS/HIV out of Africa.

That IS botox that's making Trinny's lips look like that isnt it? My face won't automatically swell up like that when I'm older.. will it?
