Women in sport often are over looked.
Because they don’t take part in Ashes and aren’t running around with the sweaty, overpaid Arsenal lads – female athletes go majorly unnoticed in the world of sports.
Can you even name a major female athlete? (I certainly hope you can name at least one, but five? I doubt it. I'm not even sure I can.)
The Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year Awards 2009 are now in their 22nd year, are continuing their mission to change all of that, and bring some of Britain’s fantastic female athletes into the spotlight.
Taking place in London, on the third of November, the event will “celebrate all that is great about female sporting achievement – from sports, to business”.
