We've all had it happen to us.
Whether you're at the grocery store, the airport, or the doctor's office - someone will say it to you. You know what I mean: Miss, Sweetheart, Lovey, Young Lady.
While someone you don't know calling you a ridiculous term of endearment can be irritating as shit, nothing could possible be annoying than when someone calls you the incorrect title. Most of us only have to deal with being called "Mrs" instead of "Ms", but if you're in politics, sometimes it can get a whole lot worse.
Barbara Boxer, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee chairwoman, was being questioned by Army Corps of Engineers division leader, Brigadier General Michael Walsh, as to why she hasn't done enough more about the devastation in the south caused by Hurricane Katrina.
Apparently when doing so, General Walsh called Barbara Boxer "Ma'am". Boxer was not cool with this.
"Could you say 'senator' instead of 'ma'am? It's just a thing. I worked so hard to get that title. I'd appreciate it."
To which the General responded, "Yes, Senator."
Politics Daily report that people are both appalled at General Walsh's behavior in calling her "Ma'am", while the rest think that Senator Boxer should show General Walsh more respect.
To which we say, bullshit.
Call her by her title. "Ma'am" isn't a title, it's a polite and formal form of address for a woman. But Boxer isn't just a woman. She's a three-time elected Senator. Show some respect.
