Man Of The Week: William Shatner

By Cate Sevilla

While we unusually like to write about men (or women) who qualify as being our Dicks of The Week - I feel like we've had enough of those the last seven days.

Instead, I'd like to nominate someone as being our Man of the Week, and that man, is a very, very, very fine man.

You may have heard about the new Star Trek movie, and how much ass it kicks, and there was a story on floating around online about how Chris Pine, the new actor playing James T Kirk, reached out to William Shatner when he was given the role of captain of the Enterprise.

Price said,

"I wrote William Shatner a letter and explained who I was because I heard there was bad blood between him and the studio. I said, 'I'm just an actor who happened to get a role that happened to be James T. Kirk, and I'm not trying to usurp your status or anything'. He replied, 'Thank you very much for the letter. I wish you the best of luck.' I have it on my fridge."

How fucking awesome is William Shatner?

He's just a cool, cool guy. He can laugh at himself, he's hilarious, and just look at him back in the day:

A Young William Shatner

We salute you, William Shatner, as being our Man of the Week - because you kick-ass.

Shatner? Pah! Overrated, it's all about Sulu and with the alleged feud between Takei and Shatner I might be encouraged to make some 'Team Takei' accessories to make sure all those 'Team Shatner' peeps know who really totally rules! ;-)
