Lie of the Tiger: Why Elin Nordegren Needs to Dump Woods

By Cate Sevilla

In all seriousness, what the hell is wrong with Tiger Woods?

Between the 27 or so women who have come out of the Woods Work claiming that they too have had a “hole in one” with Tiger and his panicky voice mails to one of his many bits on the side – I really feel ashamed that I used to be  Tiger Woods fan.

When it comes to cheating celebrities, people are always torn.

Some are adamant hat their private life and private sins are just that, private. Why should we judge them for what they do behind closed doors? Why should we care about how Tiger lies and cheats on his wife? Why should we care what Chris Brown did to Rihanna? It’s none of our business....

And then there are the rest of us who find it hard to support someone’s professional, celebrity life knowing what it is they get up to when the paparazzi aren’t around.

Golf bores me to tears anyway, so I don't really care about how this whole, whorish scandal will affect Tiger’s sport – but I have to admit that he disgusts me at the moment.

The photographs, the emails, the voice mails...he’s just gross.

Even more concerning is the fact that his wife is still with him. She’s apparently been paid a crap load of money to “work things out” and the couple is said to be going away to privately work out their issues.

Keep in mind they have two young children.

I am always confused by women who choose to stay with men who cheat. I am even more confused by famous women who stay with men who so publically shit all over their relationship.  From Hillary Clinton, to Vanessa Bryant – my mind is boggled by the women who stay.

There are plenty of women who don’t stay, like Shania Twain and Uma Thurman, but then there are plenty of idiots like Sienna Miller who will break off an engagement with their cheating other half, only to get back together with them a couple of years later. After, AFTER he’s just had another child with someone else he was screwing on the side.

Being cheated on is bad enough without the whole world knowing about it. If you’re a woman and your boyfriend cheats on you – or vice versa - , it’s horrible. But I think having every late night talk show host and blogger in the western world writing or talking about how your rich, celebrity partner was banging some professional mistress (or 8) behind your back, or in your family home, is much much worse.

Elin, dump Tiger.

He’s not going to suddenly stop being a disgusting pig. He only quit because he got caught.

Run run run as fast as you can.

It's awkward, isn't it? We don't want to know, but then when we DO know... how can we help but be affected by it? How can we help but judge, even a little bit?

I'm actually grateful 'my' cheater walked away so that I didn't have to make the hideous decision. There probably ARE reasons to stay, and it feels wrong to tell anyone what they should do. I can't imagine it's easy. But when you add public humiliation to the mix (whether you knew beforehand or not, and especially if you're not even the famous one), it's hard to see how you could face staying. I admit I don't have kids, but I'm completely baffled at anyone even wanting to try.

There's a lot of blaming on the wife and the other women: the wife should just put up: the other women should be "cool" and shut up. And...even saying he "needs" it and what's a guy to do with free sex being offered all the time?

But hey, he made a deal and took some vows. You want the picket fence and the adoring family with a faithful wife? Then don't run around? What do you think HE'D do if his wife had 9 guys on the side? Come on. These were promises they made to each other and no one made him.

Also, he's clear on deals. Funny how guys are faithful to their sponsoring companies, not cheating on them with other products - even if they are offered for free. The famous are faithful to promotion deals, the agents they use, the corporations and networks they make deals with, even in the face of sweet other deals being dangled. They are clear on that fidelity even in the face of benefit, because they don't want to be known as a deal skank. Guys have great corporate fidelity in his position, yet to real people they "love," they don't. No thought to the wife and kids and family and friends caught in the lie. If he didn't want to be married, he should have remained single.
