Last night Lady Gaga performed with legendary artists and musicians such as Elton John, Sting and Bruce Springsteen at the 21st Rainforest Foundation Gala at Carnegie Hall, produced by Sting’s wife, Trudie Styler.
The Rainforest Foundation helps “support indigenous peoples and traditional populations” of the rainforest as they fight to “conserve their land and defend their rights”, which sounds like a pretty amazing foundation.
(And so very Trudie & Sting-esque.)
Last night saw everyone from Shirley Bassey, Elton John, Sting, The Boss, Debbie Harry and Lady Gaga join together to sign Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’”, in addition to some truly amazing duets and performances.
As I might be a fan of Lady Gaga’s, I found her performance of “Stand By Me” with Sting to be the most moving, as the comraderie and admiration just oozes from every second of the song, and every plunk of the piano.
Another memorable moment from the night was Elton John and Gaga’s performance of their fantabulous “Your Song/Speechless” medley from The Grammy’s. Of course, we’d already seen them do this, but it doesn’t make it any less fantastic.
As I mentioned before, I wish more artists would collaborate, even if it’s just for one night at a benefit concert. It’s exciting for the fans, an excellent way to make money, and obviously makes for one hell of a show.
