Maybe I'm just small minded, but I'm finding newspapers and magazines more and more boring lately. I'm sure it's not really "lately" as things are probably always this way, but nless there's an election, some political or financial crisis or some scandal online- not much changes from the day to day.
Let's see. You check the news and...
a) The Republicans are pissed at Obama
b) Some wacky celebrity thing happened last night. Here's a photo.
c) Here's how you can save money because we're in a recession
d) We're still at war. Lots of people have died.
The Lifestyle pages try their damnedest to make things more interesting for you. Here's a recipe! Here's an inexpensive shoe! Here's some moral dilemma that they want us to debate over!
But it all just feels boring and the same. This is especially apparent in the "Women" sections of various newspapers, such as The Guardian and The Times, who just recycle the same shit.
Are you too young to get married?
French women eat better than you do, fatty.
WAGS are silly.
Too busy to cook? Never!
I know that not every article or feature is recycled these days, but with everything being so bleak, it would be nice if our sources of information, entertainment and news just tried a wee bit harder to be less mundane.
I'm sure things are always this way, but the current mood and state of the world just make it seem worse - but I'm bloody bored reading what is "going on in the world".
