37-year old Daniel Townsend of Medford, Oregon died Monday when his McDonnell Douglas 369FF helicopter crashed after the rotor hit a pole.
Townsend was considered a local hero to the citizens of Central Oregon and was instrumental in the rescue of Kati Kim and her two daughters after their nine day ordeal lost in the Oregon Wilderness in 2006.
Townsend leaves behind a wife, Kelly, and three children.
There will be a memorial service on Monday, 19 October at 11:00 am PST at the Applegate Christian Fellowship in Ruch, Oregon.
Friends and family have set up a memorial fund to help Kelly Townsend and her daughters in this time of need.
BitchBuzz wishes to extend their condolences to the family and friends of Daniel Townsend. Writers and editors of this publication have covered Kati Kim's story and, in our opinion, Daniel was nothing less than a hero.
