Today is the day that we're meant to find out if California is going to overturn Proposition 8 so that gay marriage is legal in California. This is a huge day for so many people, and we're all just hoping that this doesn't turn into a repeat of November 4th. (You know the "Yay about Obama, too bad California sucks" day.)
Arguing and debating about Prop 8 and gay marriage gets pretty tiring. Some people are just full of hate, many simply don't know what they're talking about, and there are some that are just completely fucking insane.
Take Pat Roberson's little comment about Congress approving a hate crimes bill that protects gay, lesbian and transgender persons
against violent bias-related crimes:
“You got somebody, he's really weird,
and his sexual orientation is that he likes to have sex with ducks.
Is he protected under hate crime? Is he protected if he likes to
have sex with little boys?”
There's no reasoning with people like this, obviously, but it's little things like this song by Riki "Garfunkel' Lindhome and Kate "Oates" Micucci in response to Roberson make me so happy.
Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci are pretty much two of the most awesome women I've come across lately! If you take a gander at their Garfunkel & Oates YouTube videos (especially this little number called "Fuck You") you'll know what I mean.
