Barbie's 50 - But Do You Really Know Her?

By Cate Sevilla

As you probably have heard, today is Barbie's 50th birthday. While we're unsure as to what Barbies plans are tonight or what's on her birthday wish list ("Legs that can bend further than 90 degrees, a boyfriend with non-plastic genitals, a head that can't be pulled off by human's younger brothers...") it's reported that lovers of Barbie around the world will be celebrating the old girl's birthday.

Sure, we all know Barbie. We've brushed her hair, undressed her everywhere, and have forced her to lay naked on top of every Ken doll we've ever owned.

However, how well do you really know Barbie? Do you know the high school she went to? How many careers she's had? I didn't think so.

Here are some fun Barbie facts to impress all you camp friends with tonight at your local Barbie celebration:

- Barbie has had over 108 careers in her life time.

- Barbie's full name is Barbie Millicent Roberts, and she's from Willows, Wisconsin.

- The signature Barbie pink color is PSM 219.

- Ken and Barbie broke up in 2004 after being together for 43 years - but remain good friends to this day. No word out yet if Ken has started dating other people. (People, as in men. )

- Barbie has owned 50 pets, her first being a horse named Dancer.

- There are 74.5 million search results on Google for "Barbie".

- Barbie has never been married or pregnant.

- There have been four “Barbie for President” dolls as she has been a presidential candidate four times as an Independent .Apparently she's "non partisan".
