Oh, well isn’t this exciting.
Back in January 2007 when Moira Cameron became the first ever female Beefeater at the Tower of London – a few people weren’t so pleased.
They were even more not-so-pleased when Moira needed a £1400 new uniform to help fit her womanly figure. As a disgruntled Daily Mail reader put it: "That’s 500+ years of tradition gone and a large tailors bill to show for it."
However, despite those naysayers, Cameron announced confidently that, “"I'm sure I'll have no problems because I'm a woman."
Well, it would appear that she was unfortunately very wrong indeed.
The Times is reporting today that apparently three Beefeaters are “facing an inquiry” for allegedly bullying Moira Cameron.
Two Beefeaters have already been suspended with another “under investigation” for *apparently* harassing Cameron, and even some Internet Moron received a police caution for “defacing” Cameron’s Wikipedia page.
The Tower of London released a statement this morning about the suspensions, saying:
“As soon as these allegations were brought to our attention, we immediately instigated procedures under our harassment policy.
“An internal investigation is already under way to establish whether these allegations have any foundation and should conclude within two to three weeks.
“Meanwhile, the Tower of London is a close-knit community and, understandably, this is a difficult time for us all.”
How depressing that even women working in male dominated tourist attraction in the year 2009 are harassed, simply because they are a woman.
